Background: The Poodle is one of the smartest of all dogs. He can learn to do just about anything. Poodles are a worthy watchdog, a good retriever, and an excellent water worker. Poodles excel in obedience training. Initially trained as circus performers, the Poodle has not lost its sense of humor. They continue to delight owners with clever tricks. Poodle owners may be inclined to spoil these pampered pooches, but too much cuddling can lead to a less than even tempered Poodle. All Poodles need professional scissoring or shaping every six weeks, but are non shedding and hypoallergenic. While Toy Poodles may be too delicate for younger children, Mini's and Standards make wonderful family pets.
