General Appearance: A strong, compact dog, profusely coated, thickset, and muscular.

Size, Proportion, and Substance: Height-males, 22 inches or more at the withers; females, 21 inches or more.

Background: The Old English Sheepdog is a well rounded family addition. A terrific herder and competent watchdog, the OES excels as a family pet. Great with people, children and other animals, smart and easy to train, the OES's virtues are endless. Despite his shaggy appearance and long, thick coat, the Old English Sheepdog doesnt' shed as much as some would think. Brushing however is a frequent chore. His coat offers protection from both heat and cold, making him an all weather companion.
