General Appearance: The Chinese Crested comes in 2 distinct varieties - the easily identifiable hairless variety has tufts of hair only on it's feet, tail and head while the Powderpuff is covered with a double soft and silky coat.

Size, Proportion, and Substance: The Crested stands 11" to 13" tall at the withers and weighs between 5 - 10 pounds. The head is wedge shaped with almond shaped eyes, set wide apart. Their large ears should be held erect. All colors are permissible including some unusual colors in the hairless variety - such as pink, lavender and blue!

Background: This toy breed is playful, affectionate and intelligent. They make a wonderful lap dog and a pleasant, outgoing travel companion. They can be fragile so they are best suited for a quiet home with older children. The Chinese Crested belongs indoors and during the fall and winter should accessorize with warm sweaters when venturing outside.
