General Appearance: There are two varieties of Brussels Griffon - the smooth coated and rough coated. They have a large, round head with high set ears which can be cropped or natural. Their body is short and thick set, compact with good balance.

Size, Proportion, and Substance: The Brussels Griffon should weigh between 8 and 12 pounds. Type and quality are of greater importance than weight so a smaller dog that is sturdy and well proportioned is still acceptable.

Background: Brussels are bold and demanding little dogs who make a living convincing their beloved owners to spoil them. Originally bred as a companion for people, this is a Brussel's sole purpose in life and they are well suited for it. They are a spontaneous, intelligent and expressive breed guaranteed to keep you on your toes (and laughing!) The inquisitive Brussels is virtually impossible to boundary train and therefore should never be allowed off of his leash unless safely confined in a fenced yard. Due to their small size and their desire to be the center of your universe, Brussels Griffons don't do well in homes with young children.
